Our harnesses come in two fabrics. The Blossom and the Boho Hearts are corduroy, the Burgundy is padded velvet. They fit exactly the same: same sizes, same adjustment at the neck and chest. The difference is in how the fabric feels, how it looks and when you'd rather use it.
Corduroy: ribs and structure
Corduroy is a woven fabric with narrow, raised ribs. They give the fabric body without making it stiff. It holds its shape well, and because of the ribs light falls on it differently than on a flat fabric. A light pink or sage green therefore looks softer and warmer than on a smooth fabric.
Corduroy is an everyday fabric. A morning round through wet grass, a walk through town, and then straight back into the hallway. Let small marks dry first and then brush them out, so you don't rub them further into the ribs.
Velvet: soft and padded
Velvet is smoother, with a short, soft pile and a light sheen that shifts as the light moves. The Burgundy has a layer of padding underneath, so the harness feels fuller than the corduroy models. That makes it pleasant on cold mornings, and the deep burgundy looks good on a light coat.
Velvet is a little more sensitive to mud than corduroy. You can wear it every day, but after a wet walk you'll want to clean it a bit sooner.
Washing
The same for both: machine wash at 30 degrees, in a laundry bag for delicates. No tumble dryer, no ironing, and dry flat. After drying you can brush corduroy gently in the direction of the ribs.
Which one to choose?
If you want a harness you put on every day without thinking, corduroy is the easiest choice. If you want something warmer for autumn and winter, or you like a deep colour with some sheen, choose velvet. For the fit it makes no difference: the sizes are the same, and how to measure is in choosing a harness for a small dog and in the size guide.
All three harnesses are at harnesses for small dogs.
