Light lines for warm days

On a hot summer day, you quickly notice what's right and what's wrong with your hiking gear. A leash that feels heavy, is too wide, or retains heat is the last thing you want. Especially with a small dog, where every gram and every detail has more impact than with larger breeds.

For Maltipoos, Cavapoos, and Bichons, thin leashes made of nylon or woven polyester are the most logical choice in summer. They weigh almost nothing, dry quickly when wet, and feel soft in your hand, even when held for a long time. A leash four or five millimeters wide is more than strong enough for small dogs. You don't need a wide hiking leash for a five-kilo dog.

When choosing, also pay attention to the length. A leash one and a half to two meters long gives a small dog enough room to sniff around without you constantly having to guide them. In warm temperatures, a dog naturally walks a bit slower and more thoroughly. You should facilitate that.

At Holy Moly, the Tulips Blossom Corduroy Dog Harness leashes are designed to feel light and fit well, even in warm weather. The sizes and colors are coordinated with the harness, so you effortlessly have a complete look without any extra effort.

One more thing to pay attention to: the carabiner. Cheap hooks rust after a few rain showers or can quickly become stiff with hot metal. Choose brushed aluminum or stainless steel. That sounds technical, but you'll simply notice it by how smoothly the hook opens after a summer walk.

The leash is one component. The harness is the foundation. If you're still figuring out which harness suits your dog and how to get the right size, also read on the page about harnesses for small dogs.
